Lovendahl-Rider Racing | Bill Larson | Austin Schoenfeld | Bill Matern | The Morgan Family
Lovendahl-Rider Racing: “The recipients of this award are big supporters of the Raceway, they were always attending other events, not just the oval. The family has been racing for years and always have a smile on their faces whenever they are at RMR. They are very deserving of this award and I appreciate their racing at our facility.” Dan Breach
Bill Larson: “Bill is willing to help anyone at anytime and is very personable, respected and liked by his racing competitors. That is why I’m sure he was voted the Lincoln Electric Sportsman of the Year in the Street Legal Series.” Ron Craft
Bill Matern: “Bill is a gentleman in all the ways, well liked and respected by everyone that knows him. He is a person that wants to win or lose a race, and has waited on his competitors many times in the past years. For that reason is why he was voted Lincoln Electric Sportsman of the Year and Bracket Racer of the Year in the Summit ET Series.” Ron Craft
The Morgan Family: “Out here on the Motocross track we have quite a few deserving people for the “Lincoln Electric Sportsman of the Year Award”. The Morgan Family stuck out because it wasn’t just an individual but the entire family was there to help fellow riders and families. From the youngest all the way to the parents, they are awesome!” Curt Stewart

Opened in 1997 by the Young Automotive Group, Rocky Mountain Raceways successfully operates a quarter-mile National Hot Rod Association Drag Strip; a 3/8-mile, high-banked Oval; and a motocross track at 6555 West 2100 South in West Valley City, Utah. The Young Automotive Group recently sold a portion of the land, which Rocky Mountain Raceways sits on, to an adjacent developer.
The Young Automotive Group and the developer signed a five-year lease, keeping Rocky Mountain Raceways fully operational at its current location till the end of the 2018 season. At the end of that time frame, Young Automotive Group will either work to extend the lease or explore other options. The Young Automotive Group is committed to racing in Utah and fully believes the Salt Lake Valley needs a motorsports venue.
In recent years, Rocky Mountain Raceways has continued to grow despite economic downturn; showing gains in overall gross revenue and sponsorship revenue.
“For our venue, nothing changes operationally. We will continue to produce the unique entertainment experiences that our fans and racers have come to expect from Rocky Mountain Raceways. We will continue to invest in the facility to make the experience for our patrons positive,” says Mike Eames, Rocky Mountain Raceways General Manager.
