NEW STATE RECORD SET AT ROCKY MOUNTAIN RACEWAYS’

NITRO NATIONALS

Salt Lake City, Utah-June 26, 2009. Friday night Terry Haddock broke a state record for Top Fuel drag racing as he ran a 4.80 ET at 287.90 miles per hour.

“It feels really great to break the record. We could have gone faster but I let off the throttle when I started to lose traction,” said Haddock after breaking the track record.

Doug Herbert set the previous record of 4.845 ET in 2001.

A rain storm momentarily delayed racing but committed fans stayed till the rain cleared. Rocky Mountain Raceways’ officials and IHRA officials worked together to dry the track and continue the show.

“It was great to see all of the fans stay even after all of the rain. It makes my job a lot easier. The track felt good and it turned out to be a beautiful evening,” said crowd favorite Ed “The Outlaw” Jones.

Racing fans cheered as Joe Timmons, of Salt Lake City, raced his Nitro-Methane Harley down the quarter mile.

“It’s always great to come to your home town and put on a great show for the fans,” said Timmons.

This high adrenaline drag racing action will continue Saturday, June 27. Saturday’s racing will feature two shows, one at 6 p.m. and the second at 9 p.m. Adult admission is $35 and youth admission is $10.

In addition to drag racing, Rocky Mountain Raceways hosts oval, motocross, monster trucks and drifting.

Rocky Mountain Raceways next events include the Summit Super Series (July 3,) Copper Cup Classic (July 4,) and Plaza Cycle Motocross Park Race (July 10.)
