Salt Lake City, Utah – March 23, 2009 –The staff and fellow
racers at Rocky Mountain Raceways are stunned and saddened by the
tragic loss of eight-year-old racer Logan Emerson and would like
to extend their condolences to the Emerson family.
Logan, son of Rocky and BeLinda Emerson was the points leader in
the 65CC 6-8 year old class and was in 9th place in the
85CC Beginner class. He had been racing at Rocky Mountain Raceways
since the track opened three years ago.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, June 25 at 6 p.m. at
Larkin Sunset Gardens 1950 E. 10600 S., Sandy.
Rocky
Mountain Raceways is asking for donations to be made to the Utah
Motorsports Foundation in the name of Logan Emerson.
Utah
Motorsports Foundation is a non-profit organization established in
1999 and organized by Terry Nish and
friends. The foundation was created for the purpose of raising
funds to offer assistance and financial relief to the motorsports
community families in the event of terminal illness, accident or
related family tragedies.
Since its inception the Foundation has
raised over $566,000 and has been able to assist over ninety
different racers and their families. The recipients have ranged
from U.S.A.C, NASCAR, N.H.R.A., I.R.L., karting, motorcycle and
Bonneville Salt Flats Racers.
